The unique ID produced in Salesforce for a child. This can be merged and therefore a child's ID can change over time.

This is the status of the placement at time of extraction (cancelled records are excluded based on this value prior to extraction)

Source of the placement information (This data set includes information from the historical OOHC MDS that was not migrated into ChildStory)

Start date of the placement set by the caseworker on the placement record. This is different to the placement creation date

End date of the placement set by the caseworker on the placement record. Field can be blank/NULL as the child may still be in care at the time of reporting.

Used for reporting purposes. There are a number of placement groups used for various purposes. This grouping changes over time.

The latest recorded purpose of the placement at time of extraction. Placement purpose is where respite placements are identified.

The reason for a child entering this placement. This includes moves between placements entries into care

The placement exit reason includes both movement in care and exit from care reasons. This field is used for permanency calculations.

Aboriginal placement principle APP flag 'Y/N'. A calculated proxy using national counting rules taking into account other factors such as Aboriginality of the carer and placement type. This flag only applied to children who are identified as Aboriginal.

Only applies to Aboriginal children. Identifies whether the carer is Aboriginal. Grouped to Aboriginal/Non Aboriginal/Independent.

This is a calculated period within CIW and is based on joining placement records.  It also uses legal orders specifically for calculating adoption and guardianship groupings.

All care category recording in CIW ends when the person turns 28 years old, however an OOHC care category can only be recorded up 18 years.  If the child does not exit OOHC prior to turning 18, the OOHC care category will automatically end on their 18th birthday.

This is a grouping of consecutive care events over time based on legal and placement information.  For children in OOHC, this identifies whether they are in statutory/supported/voluntary care.  For children deemed to be not in care, this identifies whether the child has a legal order or not.  For all other children, the care arrangement reflects the same value as the care category.

Care arrangement start date is the start date for the care arrangement period for the row of information

Care arrangement end date is the end date for the care arrangement period for the row of information

The service provider id identifying the organisation providing placement services

Placement provider name is derived from information on the service provider. Placement provider is the agency which is managing the placement, which may or may not be the same agency managing the case.

The unique ID assigned to a Carer Household by ChildStory source system (A - nnnnnn), and also referred to as the Carer Household ID.

Official name of the carer household recorded in ChildStory. The Carer Household name reflects the name/s of all carer person/s within the household.

Calculated Aboriginal status of the household based on the Aboriginal Status recorded on the carer person/s person role in ChildStory

The unique ID of the primary carer in the household, from ChildStory

The relationship of the primary carer to the child. This data item only looks at familial relationships, and is used specifically for annual reporting on relative/kinship carers.

The ChildStory ID  of the legal order (ORT - nnnnnn) applicable to the child at a point in time. Only orders or legal information that assign parental responsibility are included.

The type of the legal record (court order/RAM/TCA/legacy placement CA)

The status of the legal record showing its currency (active/expired)

Each legal order has an approval status. However, a record is not required to be approved in order to be considered in CIW counting rules.

The start of the legal order as set by the court or administrative arrangement.

The end of the legal order as set by the court or administrative arrangement. Some orders are recorded without an end date.

A calculated end date for when either the end date of a legal order is missing, or when the order overlaps the subsequent parental responsibility order based on the next order start date (if any) or the 18th birthday of the child.
