The term 'post-' does not necessarily indicate the a client's engagement with a service has concluded, but signifies that the assessment has been conducted after a service has begun to be received i.e. a client may have more than one 'post-' assessment recorded if the continually engage with a service over time.

NOTE: As of 18/8/2018, this field is no longer the primary item used to determine assessment order and should only be used to order assessments when two assessments occurring on the same day relate to the same session.

Before 18/8/2018, this field was mandatory for all client outcome assessments as it was the primary means of determining the sequential order of assessments; the earliest assessment with a 'Pre' value for this item was designated as the baseline assessment, and the latest assessment with a 'Post' value was used to create a valid SCORE pairing which could be used to measure the effect of a service on client outcomes.

Since 18/8/2018, this field, while still mandatory for users uploading data via the XML bulk upload or System-to-system upload, is no longer used except when two assessments relate to the same session. Assessment order is now calculated using the value of the 'Session: Conducted date DDMMYYYY' item, with the assessment relating to the earliest session date becoming the baseline, and the assessment relating to the latest or most recent session date becoming the 'post'.

Where two or more sessions occurred on the same date, the 'Data Exchange: Session identifier, ID N[N(17)]' item is used as a tiebreaker; the assessment related to the session with the lowest ID value becomes the 'pre' and the assessment related to the session with the highest ID value becomes the 'post'.

Where this tie-break fails because two assessments occur on the same day in relation to the same specific session, this data item is used as a secondary tie-breaker; one assessment is specified as 'pre' and another as 'post' to signify the sequential order of the assessments.
