This refers to the total number of households exiting from public housing and Aboriginal Housing Office (AHO) properties, at the reporting period.
A positive exit describes the tenancy end with a positive outcome, such as a transition to a stable and independent housing arrangement, while a negative exit denotes a negative tenancy end, such as a breach of the tenancy agreement.
Indicator Summary
The number of households exiting is calculated as a count of distinct Tenancy Reference Numbers where the Tenancy End Date is between the the first and last day of the reporting period. Calculation rules
- Computation
The number of households exiting is calculated as a count of distinct Tenancy Reference Numbers where the Tenancy End Date is between the the first and last day of the reporting period. Funding is equal to Public Housing or Aboriginal Housing, the Vacancy Reason is not created in error or the tenant has not occupied, the DCJ Client Service Team is not TCOMM or missing. Tenancy Type excludes Properties managed by DOH and leased to community groups, Commercial leases, the Office of Community Housing, Shared Equity, Serviced Rooming House / Joint Venture or PEP - Private. Property Type is equal to 'Cottage', 'Town House', 'Terrace', 'Unit' or 'Villa'.
A positive exit type is calculated by using the Vacancy Exit Reason (of either a Tenant Initiated Exit or a Provider Initiated Exit) and Where Next Housed (to either private ownership or a private rental).

Comments
The data refer to the total number of households exiting DCJ managed tenancies with any of the following exit reasons: moved to aged care/family support accommodation, breach of tenancy agreement, deceased, moved to private rental/ownership/affordable housing, tenant imprisoned, tenant vacated without notice, or other reasons. DCJ managed refers to a public housing property or a property managed by the AHO.
The information on age, gender, and the status of the culturally and linguistically diverse background of the head of the household is used for reporting on demographic characteristics of the household.
An Aboriginal household is defined as a household with one or more members (including children) identifying as an Aboriginal person.
