Definition
This refers to the total number of residential dwellings in public housing, community housing, Aboriginal Housing Office and Indigenous community housing in NSW, during the reporting period.
Indicator Summary
The number of public and Aboriginal public housing residential dwellings is the count of distinct Property References, where the following conditions are met:
- Property Type is equal to 'Cottage', 'Town House', 'Terrace', 'Unit' or 'Villa';
- Property Status is equal to occupied or void;
- Property Status is equal to 'OK';
- Financial summary is equal to Public Housing or Aboriginal Public Housing;
- DCJ Client Service Team is not TCOMM, or the value for Client Service Team is not missing.

Comments
The social housing residential dwellings count includes:
- Crisis accommodation dwellings,
- Affordable housing properties owned by DCJ and leased to community housing providers,
- Affordable housing properties leveraged by non-government providers under the asset ownership vesting arrangements, and
- Affordable housing properties delivered through the Social and Affordable Housing Fund.
It excludes land and non-residential assets owned and managed by DCJ and non-rentable residential assets at 30 June each year. It is important to note that due to different counting rules the figures published in Annual Statistical Report for social housing residential dwellings may differ from published figures elsewhere.
