Definition

Metadata for IAC0451 covering tables released for calendar years 2011 to 2022. Each related table contains data for a specific calendar year.
 

  • Includes secondary schools and central/community schools.
  • Secondary schools generally enrol students in Years 7 to 12, although some secondary schools only enrol students in the senior years, i.e. Years 11 to 12 or the junior years, i.e. Years 7 to 10.
  • The Conservatorium High School is included with performing arts schools.
  • Aurora College (NSW Virtual Selective High School) is included with fully selective schools.
  • The number of schools is recorded mid-year.
  • Intensive English only covers standalone Intensive English schools and does not include schools with an attached Intensive English Centre.

Specific Information:

Most NSW public schools are 'comprehensive', however some schools offer a specialty as well. A speciality provides more extensive and targeted support where this is relevant and necessary to strengthen a student’s academic achievement, specific skills or interests, emotional wellbeing, and/or social development.

The number of schools that are co-educational or single-sex schools, based on selective school status and school specialty.
